Additional Comments: I can't remember Trent's last name, but I know it wasn't Layton, which was Melanie's name before she became a Kiriakis. So where did she get the name Layton?

This has bugged me from the beginning. Trent's surname started off being Becker, then became Robbins, it was never Layton. Maybe her adoptive mother's surname was Layton, and Melanie was given to her before she married Trent? That is all I can come up with.

Speaking of mysterious last names, why was EJ originally EJ Wells?

I think it was a name he took on when he was a race-car driver.

When EJ first came to town, he did not want to be known as a Dimera. He pretended to be a nice guy, which Demira were NOT known to be.

His mother, Susan Banks, named him Elvis. When he was a baby, she married Edmund Wells. I don't recall anything ever being mentiioned again about the Wells family, until EJ showed up in Salem, but I assume he grew up with the name Elvis (EJ) Wells. olyady
