I live in Belgium, and we're currently about 5 years behind you in the US. Jack was just killed by the Salem Stalker. I've been spoiled enough to know that Marlena is the killer (or will be, until they rewrite it to be Tony/Andre) but don't know who all of the victims will be, or how it will play out.
I'm wondering - what was the reaction to this storyline when it originally aired? I can't imagine it was well received, with all the killing of major characters. At the same time, my husband and I are finding the show to be hilarious. I hope that doesn't insult anyone. We watch it together when we wake up (it airs around 7am here, and is commercial free) and cannot stop laughing. The only good acting we've seen, in our opinions, is Roman's reaction to Abe's death. That was touching. My mother in law watches it with a serious mind, and doesn't like it when we mock it, so we try not to discuss it with her ;-)
Did anyone at the time think that Maggie was the killer? That's what we would think if we were not spoiled about Marlena. Abe pointed at her and she found Jack's body (if there's a serial killer on the loose, why would you take a 'shortcut' through an alley alone? Why? And then handle the bloody brick? Stupidity. the police should be looking at her more closely).
We don't understand why Tony listens to John when John has no power. When he came to take Tony to the station, Tony should have just locked him outside lol. Bo and Hope are dumb and dumber. My husband and I think it would have been interesting if they had been the killer - working together, faking their own attack to divert suspicion.
Do Roman and Kate find out about Rex and Cassie before too very long? We're really looking forward to that. We like Mimi, Roman, Kate, Rex, Cassie, Tony, Lucas, Nicole (even though she's an idiot, she can shoot Colin Murphy but can't shoot Victor and has to create elaborate plans with Larry Welch?), Brady (when he's not constantly demanding to know what Nicole is up to)....we couldn't stand Chloe, love to make fun of Bo and Hope, and hate hate HATE Shawn. He is so annoying! Sami has good moments when she's not screeching or acting too stupid for words, but Shawn is always horrible. We can't wait until he finds out that Rex is a Brady and not the killer. Haha! He's so self-righteous it makes us ill. We hope Belle does go for Phillip.
We haven't watched regularly before this storyline (just some episodes here and there, like when the kids were on the island with Nicole's dad) but we think we will keep watching. It's too funny not to! I like how we can feel sad for Jennifer and Abby (more sad for Abby, she's irritating but effective, poor child - she never should have been in the room when the plug was pulled, but I think they are trying to conserve sets? The hospital waiting room is also the police interrogation room) but also laugh at it all because these people are so dumb. Marlena will have an easy time of it.

I really enjoyed the storyline when it was going on. It got me hooked. It wasn't the best writing to say the least but I tought it was entertaining at the time. They really ruined the whole storyline the minute they brought all of the victims back from the dead - the whole island stuff was just ridiculous. I was glad that people like Maggie, Abe, Caroline, Jack, Roman, etc weren't really dead because they had really just destroyed the cast, but the way they brought them back was sooo far-fetched. I was fine with them making the DiMeras responsible for making Marlena kill everybody, but I think it would've been much better if they were actually dead and Marlena, once out from the DiMeras influence, had to deal with the fact that she had murdered so many of her friends and loved ones. That would have been the perfect revenge by Stefano against her and John and all his other enemies. I never really understood, though as it was, what the whole motive was for faking everyone's death and putting them on an island... it seemed to me like it was just JERk's way of fixing his mistake of eliminating half the cast and he was just writing it as he went.
Roman and Kate do eventually find out that they are Rex and Cassie's parents, but unfortunately, Cassie dies immediately after and then Roman right after her, so you never get to see them as an actual family. And you'll get your wish with Belle and Philip, at least for a little while anyway thanks to Jan Spears. Shawn and Belle wind up together in the end though and sail off into the sunset. I HATED when Belle was with Philip. I just couldn't stand Kyle Brandt at all and thought he was terrible as Philip. Jay Kenneth Johnson is sooo much better - it's like they're not even the same character. I'm really glad that Jay came back and thought he was much more tolerable with Belle, although I'm happy Shawn and Belle were able to get their happily ever after.
Anyway enjoy the rest of the crazy storyline. If you think it's funny now just wait until everyone gets to the island and are crashing planes, being electrocuted by force fields, running around in the jugle, hanging from cliffs, and being shot by poison darts. It's fun stuff!
Just wait, this story gets crazier and the aftermath even crazier. I enjoyed it. There are more victims, a lot more.
I don't recall if Roman and Kate found out anything else about the Gemini twins, since they aren't any longer on the show and never mentioned. Mimi leaves the show too, as does Nicole, but she recently came back and Brady is on another soap now, as is Mimi.
To me, the show is better now. With old characters returned, Anna DiMera, Tony's real return, Patch/Steve, Kayla and now Nicole. There's so many that are not on now that is on that you're watching now. Gone are Jack, Jennifer, Brady, Belle, Shawn D, Cassie, Rex, Mimi and Bart, oh how I miss him. Hope I didn't give anything away. Enjoy the show. vicci
