I've obviousely missed something. I know I missed a couple of key shows involving this issue.
How and why did Melanie leave Carly at birth and end up being adopted by Trent. I know Lawrence wanted nothing to do with Melanie, but what were the circumstances putting Melanie with Trent?

Message: It certainly was mentioned at least a couple times that Lawrence arranged the adoption. My feeling was that he found someone awful who would mistreat the child. After all, he was going to dump the baby down on her little head!

Message: I don't think you missed anything. Carly's connection to Trent hasn't been addressed, really. She gave Melanie up for adoption and Trent (and apparently his late wife Jane) were the couple chosen. There has never been any mention of whether or not Carly knew Trent or if it was through an adoption lawyer, agency, etc. It just happened. And we're supposed to accept that. Because logic isn't a big thing in Salem. :)
