Though rumored for many weeks, Dena Higley has now officially been named the head writer Days of our Lives. Higley's reinstatement as head writer ends a three-year absence from the show. Higley joined the DAYS writing team in 1985 and over the following 18 years eventually worked her way up to the head writer position.
Ousted are former head writer Hogan Sheffer, who had not been writing since the strike by the Writers Guild of America in November, and eight other DAYS writers.
Meanwhile, the WGA blasted Higley and other writers for having worked during the strike. Those writers will now essentially be black-listed and unable to partake in Guild events.

Message: Regardless of her past I give her props because she's turned things around for the show in short order. I really look forward to watching every day now. Big improvement. I just hope it lasts A while before she burns out.
I have to agree with you, Alex Marshall. The show was a disappointment through all the years that Reilly was running things into the ground. But this last fling with Sheffer almost took the show off the air. Corday isn't much of a business leader, wow!!

Message: The WGA members who went 'fi-core' knew that they were suspending some of their membership privileges, like voting, by doing this. However, I don't see the WGA's point w/this, since the writers had the right to go 'fi-core'. It wasn't illegal & if the union didn't like it, why did they agree to it being an option for members?

Message: She's a hack, maybe the biggest after Leah Laiman and McTavish. Sad. But Days is headed to cable and satellite or ABC if lucky. Ken Corday destroyed his father's show. He's a joke.
