Additional Comments: Now that we are once again faced with AW cancellation how many of us will want to come here to discuss AW and whatever is on our minds? This board became my little community of friendship 7 years ago when we cried and vented over NBC cancelling AW. However something magical happened and the die hards stuck around and while we lamented and over losing the best soap ever, we started to share a little bit about ourselves. So like 7 years ago I am hoping we can all still come here and talk about Soapnet and their boneheadedness and anything that is happening in our lives. Of course we will respect privacy boundaries and be selective in what we want to share. I posted to Suzienews that I had been ill for months not knowing what was wrong until my doctor did a Western Blot test and found I had Lyme disease. After much pain and a 30 day course of anti biotics I am over it but it left me with some facial weakness which I am working on strengthening. So if you guys want to share things that you feel comfortable with, we can maybe give positive feed back. Take care everyone. We will make it through this again.

HI Carolyn! I hope you're feeling better. Amy Tan wrote a book of non-fiction and a big part of it was about her discovering she had lyme disease. . .interesting read.

Glad to see you posting here. I can't believe they pulled our show again, and right in the middle of some great stuff!

I posted my news a few posts back, I am pregnant with a baby girl and she is due in September. My son is 3 1/2 and he's very excited!

I hope we can all post here and keep in touch.

Hi Carolyn. I hope you're feeling better. Even though I was not one of the more active posters during the non-AW years, I came here often. I still remember with great fondness the support and comfort I received from posters here when we lost out beloved cat Burbank in 2003. I also remember many of the posters shared stories of their furry family members, news of their families, things like that. I hope this happens again because I always enjoyed reading about others (and sometimes even posting). The posters on this board are a true community, and I wish we could still be discussing currently aired AW's, but failing that, I hope this board continues to be a place to share with and support others!!! You guys are the BEST!!!!!

  • Newfymom - I recall a while back you saying that you write Sci Fi fan fiction! I was so excited when I read that! I hope it is going well for you! Elaine/eom
  • Elaine, wow, you have a great memory. I started posting my stories in February and it is being very well received (at least, I think so). My hubby and I like to make jokes about my ''fans,'' one of whom lives in Australia. It has been a lot of fun for me. I need something to fill up the non AW hours since their is, IMO, NOTHING worth watching on TV anymore. eom/Newfymom
  • Good for you, Newfymom!! My husband is a huge SciFi fan - he sure would like to read your stories! Believe me, it is much better to spend your time writing than watching television - in the end, you will be writing the shows people watch! I hope your reputation grows and I am so happy for you! Elaine/eom
  • Thanks for the encouragement Elaine!! I MUCH prefer writing to watching TV, the only thing I watch anymore is the local news and sports! My fanfic is on the fanfiction.net website, and my author name is MavFan. Warn you hubby, it's only Star Trek stuff. Thanks again for your interest and encouragement. I LOVE the people on this board!!! eom/Newfymom
  • Star Trek is his favorite, Newfymom!!!! He is working today (he seems to be always working these days), but I just copied the site down and your name and will give it to him - though I may check it out myself! My mom LOVED Star Trek and watched them all, with her favorite being Captain Picard, which I think was the second series after Star Trek. I loved him too, but I always had a soft spot for the crew of the Enterprise, particularly Spock - I like my men exotic, lol. I am really happy for you, Newfymom! I agree that the Another World board - well, I have yet to find another place like it - lots of love and lots of good times! Enjoy your writing and live long and prosper! Elaine/eom

Hello Carolyn!   Wonderful to see you again - but I am sorry you had to go through what you did with Lyme disease.  I had it back in the summer of 2001.   I had the classic symptoms - large red bulls-eye rashes all over my body.    I was convinced I had a reaction to eating strawberries, lol, even though the whole thing started with a 104 fever.   My fever settled down, but by the end of the month the rash was gone, but I had Bell's Palsy  - is that what you had, as you mentioned weakness in your face?

My face still droops a tiny bit on the right side, but it is not very noticeable.  I also had the antibiotic treatment once my Lyme disease was diagnosed.   I have had no problems - knock on wood - since.

I found out today they are returning Ryan's Hope to the line-up at Soapnet, so I am very happy about that.   I watch some of the oldies but goodies on AOL of Another World.   Other than that,  I work at various jobs still, and my MIL is now living with us.   I sure miss the old days here - you were the first to welcome me way back in 1999.  I still keep in touch with kibbles.

    I miss you!

  • HI Elaine! I think about you from time to time wondering how you are doing. I am still working on getting complete recovery from the Lyme. I think I had it alot longer than I even thought. I ended up in the emergency room with head pain so bad I wanted to die. But all is much better now. I will be going to Holland again with my daughter at the end of June. That makes 3 years in a row. We were invited to my young cousin's wedding. This will be amazing! Can you believe that AW fans are made to suffer through cancellation again? I'm glad I didn't get a chance to become emotionaly invested in it again. I have my tapes. I hope you keep posting when possible. It's so good to hear from you. I miss you too and say hi to Kibbles for me. /Carolyn
  • Hi Carolyn!! It is so wonderful to see your name here -it really brightened my day yesterday. I was lucky I contracted the Bell's Palsy so early as that is why I was saved from worst side effects. It is terrific that you are going on holiday to Amsterdam, please send me pics, okay? Do you still have my email addy? I think I still have yours - I have to run to work now, but I will be in touch! I am so glad you are feeling better!!!! I will say hi to kibbles - we don't keep in constant touch, just touch base now and again with each other. He is doing great and his writing career has really taken off! See you again soon - Elaine/eom
