Tosca, here's one more you can add to your list. Were any of you aware that ammonia has been added to the water supply in some places? Apparently they're using it to kill ''things'' that they haven't been able to do with their cholorine and stuff! This is a very thorough article on many things that affect our tap water. I almost didn't read it, because I know the drill! Drugs, pesticides, chemicals, etc.! I've heard it all before. But I'm glad I did read this one, as there are other things they're not telling us about. Such as! Did you know that some of the BRASS fixtures also contain lead? I didn't know that! People are getting much more lead than previously thought; the scientists just figured out about the brass stuff not too long ago.
But there are some things in here that it's very good to be aware of. Also, I subscribe to this newsletter, and it's just tops! It's free (of course), and they have MANY different topics in it. I actually like it a lot better than Dr. Mercola's newsletter (which is also excellent)! But I really recommend it if any of you are interested in staying on top of things. (There was one article he had in there that he broke almost a WEEK before the media got ahold of it and broke it! I was IMPRESSED!!!)

Lots of ways of looking at this. Remember, chlorine is a poisonous gas and that's in our water. What's the alternative? Is there any pure clear, clean healthy water that we can all drink that is NOT treated to protect us? IMO, we have to rely on chemists to come up with the best way to keep our water potable, in the safest way possible.
Here's what I found on ammonia in our water. Remember, it's not just ammonia dumped in the water. It is used to combine chemically with something else, which changes it from ammonia to something else:
Chloramines are another chlorine-based disinfectant. Although chloramine is not as strong of an oxidant it does provide a longer-lasting residual than free chlorine, and it won't form THMs or haloacetic acids. It is possible to convert chlorine to chloramine by adding ammonia to the water after addition of chlorine: The chlorine and ammonia react to form chloramine. Water distribution systems disinfected with chloramines may experience nitrification, wherein ammonia is used a nutrient for bacterial growth, with nitrates being generated as a byproduct.

Very scary article! It is a long one but worth reading. The whole world needs to work together to do something to better our water supplies. I was shocked that the drugs people are consuming go through the waste plants and back into our water supplies. I also clicked on the article The Dangers of Eating Beef and Processed Meats. Sodium Nitrate is a chemical that is injected into meat as a preservative and it turns the meat red to make it more appealing to the consumer. Sodium Nitrate is a form of the chemical that is injected into mice to give them cancer for research. Shocking isn't it!
My husband is in stage 4 of Nodule Melanoma and we have been fighting for his life. It is important that he keep his immune system up and to eat healthy. It scares me that he might be getting something from our water and food that could hurt him. I worry about the little babies that are consuming things that could cause them to be mentally or physically impaired.
This problem is not going to get better unless drastic measures are taken. This problem should be addressed to McCain and Obama. It appears to be worse than global warming and I don't recall any of them discussing it.
