Additional Comments: You have mentioned your weight several times as being a concern.  While I think that diet and exercise, primarily behavior modification and not fad stuff, is best there are other options.  My wonderful daughter-in-law had serious weight gain after the death of her father and a much desired second pregnancy.  She was having a lot of weight related problems and after much prayer and discussion with her husband decided to have the lap-band procedure.  Insurance did not pay for it, so she financed it through her bank.  The results have been phenomenal, she feels great and is looking very good. It was expensive but it will save her money in the future ie no knee replacement, no high blood pressure, no diabetes etc.  It's something to consider.  Do keep us all posted on your prognosis.  You sound like a young person with a lot of a good life ahead for you.

20 pounds is fabulous!  I can certainly understand NOT wanting to have surgery and consider it a last resort and hospitals a place to be avoided.  The lapband procedure was done as day surgery, and yes, she has a port for adjustment.  I don't know if she will always have it however.  She has a special drink and says she forgets to eat and is never hungry.  Even sometimes has ONE martini.  You're doing great girl, and my prayers are with you.  I'll bet you feel better already!

This is wild!   The lady at work I told you about!   I'm thinking now that the banding is not what she had.   I can't remember what it was, but I DO know that she has a port, where they adjust her.  Does that sound like the bands to you?  Ok, here goes!   I found out today, that she was born the same day that Tom Hughes was!  And she started watching ATWT when she was an infant!  Doesn't watch it anymore, but she was right there with me in high school!!!

Hey!!!  Not TOO young!   52!   But then, age is always relative!   I think of 60 year olds as babies now!!!

The girl who sits next to me at work had that procedure done; our insurance covers it.  She is one year older than me, and very large like I am.  I hate it for her though, cuz I KNOW that any surgery is bad for your heart in the longrun, and especially when you're fat!!!!   So I'm going to try really hard not to have to go that route, as heart problems have come down through my father's family for at least 4 generations, and probably 104, according to what we've read in our genealogy!

My main problem is just getting started!   But I have now done breakfast and lunch, I just have supper to get in line now!   (I don't eat after supper, so that won't be a problem!)   I've been taking organic Granny Smith apples to work to snack on, and they are TOO good (except once in a while one will be a BIT too tart)!!!

I've lost about 20 pounds so far (my doctor is NOT going to be impressed), but I haven't started ALL THE WAY yet!    This is just on transition (still have to implement the exercise, but I'm doing much better in the moving around department so that shouldn't be a problem now).  I should be getting serious next week, when my green barley pills get here, and I start on that with my cocktails (organic tomato or vegetable juice, with apple cider vinegar, ginger and cayenne, for some zip)!   I used to drink them years ago, and they're great once you get used to the taste.   And all that stuff is great for what I have, so should be helpful!

I have found out some very interesting info.   I apparently have Estrogen Dominance.   If I remember correctly, what I read was that your fat cells manufacture estrogen.   So if you are REALLY fat, you are REALLY working overtime making it.   The estrogen dominance is a huge factor in cancer.   The stats I read said that if you have the condition of Estrogen Dominance, you are 540 percent more likely to develop breast cancer, and over 1000 times more likely to develop other cancers.

We are working on trying to get my estrogen dominance GONE!   However!   He has given me synthetic progesterone, and I would much rather do natural progesterone.   I will bring that up when I see him in December.   The natural does not cause blood clots, and works better.

Thanks for thinking of me, and please post anything else you see or think of, that you think might help!  I haven't been on the boards much lately, as I'm always researching!   Once I figure out exactly what my protocol will be, I should be on here more.

(This was NOT a good time for me to lose GL, as it is still very hurtful to me.  And I don't need that right now.  Stress is NOT a good thing!   But maybe hulu or hula (whatever) will pick up
GL, and I can watch old shows.    That would make me happy.  I miss all my buddies on the show.   (I don't miss anyone from ATWT or B&B though.   Well, except for Damian!!!)   (heeheeheehee!)
