Additional Comments: What's the story behind them. Were they raised by either of their parents, were the parents decent people? I don't know if we know about Jack as a teenager, but it's clear here that Brad was a total jerk. It's pretty clear that Jack, as an adult is obnoxious to women. Is this behavior something they learned at home, or developed all on their own?

The way that they have changed the Brad and Jack backstory I wouldn't be suprised if they end up with two different fathers, one being James Stenbeck and the other ,Burt is actually alive in a witness protection program somewhere.

When Valerie Perrine was playing their mom, it was a great idea, and she should have been kept on in some kind of recurring capacity or brought back periodically to give us a why to Jack's behavior.

This is the biggest problem w/such rewritten history. Most of what we've been seeing lately flies in the face of established fact for these characters, in an insulting & nauseating way. Brad was introduced recently enough that there are audience members in the desired demographic who remember the relationships that were established, along w/history.

Valerie Perrine was good as Delores. I just wish that TPTB had done more w/the character. Now it is as if she never existed!

The really sad part is that Brad has always been a character that suffered from lack of development of both character & storyline. There never has seemed to be much focus on the character--be it motivation, establishing relationships or being much more than a bump on a log. Good actors have played him & I can see potential for the character, but the ball keeps getting dropped.

The show rewrote a lot of Brad and Jack's history, including the fact that Brad is the older brother not the younger one, and the favorite of their Mom. Jack idolized his Dad Burt, but he also loved his Mom very much. Yes Jack thought Brad hit his Dad with the car, but the truth came out a long time ago that it was his Mom that did it and they all got past it. Their Mom's name was Delores and she was on the show for a while. She actually wound up kind of liking Carly when she was married to Brad, when Carly helped her out of a jam with the IRS or something. Delores is still out there somewhere living in up I guess.

I ask this because Jack, although he's been a father for awhile, doesn't seem to have a handle on his teenaged son. He knows the kid is having sex, but he hasn't had the man to man sit down...if your old enough to screw, your old enough to be a man, respect the woman your with, etc. It would seem that Jack maybe didn't get that from his father..because we know Brad was a cad as a teen, proof being that Janet got pregnant and he wasn't involved. My father talked to me as a young teenaged girl..about respecting yourself and recognizing when a male person is not treating you with respect. I'm almost sixty, so...is that concept gone by the wayside and no one cares anymore? Is sex as young, as often, with as many as you can whenever you can..all there is for kids to look forward to? Do they think every boy/girl relationship has to culminate in a sex act? My sister has a sixteen year old who acts like Parker, is flunking school, is on BCP, is left alone with BF whenever, sneaks out...and her parents say they have to pick their battles, they don't have the energy to fight...blah blah..and then the next time I talk to her she'll tell me what a gorgeous dress 'they' shopped together for..so the kid could go to some special dance. I was grounded for taking one puff on a cigarette at 15, and didn't go to ONE THING besides school classes..that whole year...I don't smoke..so I guess I'm happy in the long run!!!

But how do you explain Jack respecting his whole harem except Carly? He shows the utmost respect and support for all his women. Except Carly. Even though Carly practically has had her legs sewn together the past five years, Jack still sees her as a whore like his mother. That's why he disrespects her. cjpsf, I agree that parents should have a talk about 'respect' to their kids, especially once they are known to be sexually active. I know Jack has had 'talks' with Parker, but obviously not enough! For instance, Parker has no idea how someone on drugs may act?? I don't think Jack or Brad had much parenting growing up. They are both fairly clueless. And it is VERY obvious that Jack does not know the meaning of the word 'respect', mostly where the mother of his children is concerned!! BTW, I had no idea that you were almost 60! For some reason I always thought you were a very young poster! LOL....Roxie

Canna, I know most of us don't care much for Fluff, but Jack didn't treat her very well as a wife, either. They went from 0-60 and then he practically left her at the alter. I don't think moving Janet to the farmhouse shows much respect, either. Anyone can shack up with no strings attached, and these folks do it at lightening speed. It's like there's a swinging door on the houses!! Janet doesn't get cut any breaks from me, either, since she went along with it..since she has a teenage daughter that is looking to her for guidance..and what she sees is Mom is Jack's playtoy. He hasn't asked Janet to marry him, yet, but he did ask her to live with him. Hasn't he had enough trouble with women in the last few years that he should stay alone on the farm and get his shi! together!!

He was pretty bad with Fluff, but at least I understood it, him thinking Carly could die pretty soon. But he treated her with respect, knowing what she did to Carly and the kids, he romanced the hell out of her, etc. Plus he did something to Fluff that he's never done with Carly. He apologized out the wazoo for his actions, and let it be known he still loved her for a long time after.

I think Jack has mommy issues. His dad (Burt?) was a cop. His mom was a drunken slut who cheated on Burt. I guess his dad was a "good guy" like Jack. Daddy died when Brad was a teen, who is OLDER than Jack. Burt was ran over by a car, and Jack thought that Brad did it and held it against him forever until he found out it was his drunken mom who ran over his father. Jack's been an ass to Brad ever since. Why, I don't know. Even when he found out the truth about his dad.

Remember the day Jack walked out on Carly after the Nick ordeal? He wasn't mad because of that, he implied Carly was a slut like his mother who liked men touching her. THAT's why he left her. And he's treated Carly like a slut ever since, using her twice for sex then telling her he's leaving.

Brad was just born a cad. But when he first came to the show, he was wonderful. He was still a cad, but more of an anti-hero with a heart of gold. He and Carly would have been great for each other until they recast him FOUR other times. lol

Also remember that the *older* Brad married Carly and blackmailed her to get some of Parker's money when he found out Hal was really Parker's son. You would think this Brad had never known Carly until he came into Oakdale this time.

I thought Parker was John Dixon's biological son...

No, John artifically Carly with his sperm, but not telling Carly. When a paternity test was done, it showed to be Johns, but Molly switched the test without anyone knowing. Parker is Hal's child.
