Wasn't Ben some kind of neurosurgeon? Isn't that what Mike needs now? Why are the writers ignoring the obvious? Ben may no longer be a practicing doctor, but he was supposed to be the best in the country. Surely, Ben has some connections in the medical community. I find it hard to believe that the show can create an aging/anti-aging drug and poison jewlery and miss an obvious medical storyline like this. I would much rather see Jack trying to help Mike get the medical help he needs than watch him find Katie's next "hook up"...as if she needs any help in that department let alone wants it right now.

WTH is Jack going to do when he finds this miracle sex/comfort partner? Lock the two of them in a room together and tell them to ''have at it'' and "Oh, btw this baby is going to need a stepdaddy"?

Come on Jack, go get some professional help and stop with the Road to Redemption Through Katie fiasco.

I think the Ben/Mike connection would be addressed if TIIC had any intention of following through on these little stories. It's too bad TIIC have decided to focus on the more daredevil aspects of the story instead of letting Jack realize he's a) not defined by one mistake and b)still able to help other people in spite of what happened to Brad. IE, this should be more "It's a Wonderful Life" than "Lethal Weapon/DeathWish".

The main reason Mike is broke is that he was in an accident and had to undergo surgery which resulted in his being unable to keep an eye on his business. By the time he recovered he'd lost everything and filed for bankruptcy. To add insult to injury, the surgery screwed up the nerves in his hand and he now has tremors which keeps him from being able to race. I think a neurosurgeon could fix that, but Mike is broke so...eom Linny

I have liked seeing the actors/characters on the road trip. Looking forward to Molly & Simon. Looking forward to J&C being together on the road trip. As for finding Katie a "good" man to fill in for his brother that's streteching it by a mile Jack. Clearly Jack is still not thinking logically but continuing on through pure emotion, guilt & deep remorse. He can't make up for the loss of Katie's husband & as irrational as it is Jack thinks this might actually work. The cold hard reality will set in when he returns to Oakdale. Katie will survive I'm sure......

Marty, here's my dilemma. Even though I am really shooting this thing down, MP is making me want Jack to reform. The problem is that the storyline is so stupid that I can't get into it. I see MP choking up as Jack and my heart goes out to him until I realize that what he's doing is actually boneheaded, dangerous and thoughtless. MP is just that good that I keep forgetting that I really hate Jack and THAT is the writer's fault IMO. I was really disturbed about the Ben Franklin suicide sl because Jack needs to think about his kids...HOWEVER that was much more effective and realistic and sympathetic than Jack going to find Mike and getting in that race. In light of what he did to Craig and Ro, it would make complete sense to show this man entertaining thoughts of suicide rather than getting behind the wheel of a car and endangering himself and others just to ''help'' Mike and Katie. I just read the spoilers for the next encounter and I am encouraged because this seems more like Jack trying to really ''help'' rather than just wallow in self-pity and do dangerously stupid things that could leave his kids fatherless. eom Linny
