This is just a little health warning.
I have been sidelined for weeks with a compression fracture of a vertebrae. While on vacation I lifted my suitcase and that did it. The pain has been intense and I have had to take Percocet, which bothers my stomach, so, in short, I am miserable.
I have always taken calcium. Vitamin D and Fosamax.....so I thought I was okay. My last bone density test was passable, and I eat lots of veggies and yogurt. But I haven't had a density test in almost two years, so here I am, wasting all these beautiful summer days doing nothing. I know I have degenerative arthritis but have tried to manage it. Guess not!
My doctor says two more weeks of doing nothing, no driving, no nothing!
SO......take your calcium, have a bone density test and eat healthy, and don't lift things that are heavy.

Calcium is a real challenge, isn't it? I was told by someone who works with gastric-bypass patients to use CHEWABLE Calcium Carbonate as it's easier on the stomach.
So sorry to hear of your Injury. Hope you get to feel better soon.
I have Osteoporosis and Arthritis in the back and through out my body.... I take calcium+D, Fosamax, and hormones. I had a bone density test as well, and have been on Fosamax for at least 15 years. I drink decaf coffee and tea, as caffeine robs your bones of calcium... Walking is the best exercise.

I'm a vitamin NUT. I take the recommended dosage of calcium that my doc told me (it includes D as well).
So sorry to hear you are laid up. Hope the time flies by quickly and you're up and at 'em soon.
