Topic: McCain or Obama?

Additional Comments:

Is there any McCain fans out there?

He has experience, he's a war veteran but if he were elected I would worry about his age being an issue. Then again look how old Ronald Reagen was.

I'm not sure if I'll be voting for Obama or McCain. I probably should go for Obama because he's from Illinois. My state will no doubt vote for him if he's running against McCain.

What I like about Obama is he's actually willing to sit down with our enemys instead of bombing everyone like Georgy does.

This is going to be a hard election, yet interesting. Then again it could be Mrs. Clinton that wins.

I liked several of the Democratic candidates, but as time went on Obama really stood out to me.  I like his quiet strength and his views.  I like the way he approaches problems calmly. He tends to become more in charge the more stressful a situation becomes.  I do think he will do his best to follow through on his promises because that is who he is.  Read his books.  I am ecstatic that he believes in using diplomacy.  This crap about not sitting down with your enemies to talk is just that - crap.  I think he is the one who understands the plight of the middle class better than anyone else running.  If it hadn't been for two books, he and his wife would still be paying off a 6-figure student loan debt.  They know from budgeting.

I am thrilled at the prospect of having someone of his obvious intellectual abilities in the Oval Office.  I don't get why being called "elite" is an insult.  I don't know about you guys, but I want someone a whole lot smarter than me solving our problems.  We need someone who will elevate our status in the world.  Bush has decimated our image in the world as well as our economy, and if you don't think that's important.....well, I do.

I had no problem with Hillary.  She would have been okay, but she wasn't a change.  Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton?  Nah.  We need someone who will break away - or at least try.

I used to have so much respect for McCain.  He spoke his mind and went with what he felt was best for the country regardless of the political consequences.  This past year he has flip flopped on so many of his stands just to pander to a certain voting bloc.  He has fashioned himself after Bush.  He has disappointed me greatly.  Who knows what he will do if he becomes President?  Will he stick to his most current views?  Will he flip flop back to the more independent McCain of before?  Will he even be able to complete his term?  He really does look older than his age, especially lately, and some of the people I've seen on the VP list alarm me.

Well, seeing how Reagan was in the early stages of Alzheimers in his last term and was so addled that Nancy and the cabinet ran the country, I wouldn't discount McCain's age.

As as for McCain himself, no way would I vote for him.  I don't trust him as far as I can throw him, I don't like his policies (for starters, he's shown little understanding with regard to our two biggest issues, Iraq and the economy), he's had his head crammed up Bush's behind even after the disgusting tactics Bush used against him for the 2000 nomination (automated phone calls to Southern voters telling them McCain had ''fathered a black child'' without mentioning the girl was actually adopted by the McCains from a third world country -- who in their right minds would forgive that?), and on top of all that McCain's a hot head who can't control his temper.  Also, the fact that he called his wife the C-word in public says a lot about his character.

No McCain for me.

Oh is there some sort of election coming up?  You wouldn't know it!

From the beginning I haven't been thrilled with any of the candidates from either side.  When it gets closer to election time, I will compare the issues and make my decision then.

He may be actually willing but do you think he will actually follow thru with that?

They are both saying that they want to do all these great things, but do you think they will actually follow thru?

I am an Obama supporter. I feel McCain is too much like Bush. I do like McCain but not for president.

  • He couldn't possibly be any worse than Bush.

I used to like McCain quite a bit (maybe 10 years ago). But not so much anymore. He is too much like Bush, and I don't think the country can take much more of that. I agree that his age (and health) are an issue. He seems much older than his age, actually. My 78-year-old parents look and act younger than he does. I'm sure his years as a POW must have aged him.

Obama wasn't my first (or even second) choice, but I think he will be a wonderful change from what we have now.
