FANTASIA.....WHAT WAS THAT????  Simon's face said it all.  I even think Randy and Paula looked a little disturbed by the whole thing.  She sang on the 4th of July a few years ago in Philly and so terribly needed a bra.  She does seem like a sweet person, I just don't dig her music.

Ok, so David vs. David.  I would have been very pleased if the contest came down to Syesha and David Cook, but I knew that was wishful thinking.  My best friend's husband and I bet each other every year.  The winner picks the restaurant and the winner and their spouse are treated to dinner by the loser.  Michael and I both wanted David A, so he said I can have the rest of the field and he'll take David A.  Ugghhhh!!!  This is too close for comfort.  I won only twice with Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.  I picked Chris Daughtry and was robbed that year.  Until next week.....

Replies: (list all replies)

  • Oh, please don't feel bad for the judges, particularly Simon. They worked their butts off in season 3 to guarantee that Fantasia would be the winner. I hope they're still delighted. Good luck trying to win the dinner. Like you, I have no idea which way this will play out. Have you chosen your restaurant?? /sb

How could that little elf-man-child David A. win?  Who's voting? Goofballs like these.....

My friend's son came home from A & M University with the story that his girlfriend and her friend had text voted for Jason Castro over 300 times each the evening before he was eliminated.  That's 600 votes minimum from 2 silly girls for the dreadlocked 4th place winner! Sheesh!

    go Cook go

  • They need limits on voting like other shows use. However, I'm not holding MY breath. Imagine how different the outcome would probably be. /sb

Yeah, that Fantasia thing was just WEIRD. Syesha is lovely and talented but nothing amazing. She might sell a handfull of downloads.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Syesha may amaze you when she finally settles into HER niche which seems to be musicals or B/way. I'm impressed with her. She's just a beginner!!! Fantasia HAS no excuse. Season 3 was a challenge having to watch her each week. I often muted her songs. I don't like her ballads either. /sb

I loved Fantasia. loved it....loved loved loved loved loved loved it....everything about it. There, I said it. I thought it was the best thing I've ever saw on idol. I know I need to get my head examined. Hubby hated it. He was rolling his eyes while I was shaking my booty

  • I feel so bad for your husband having to witness that. The poor man. Have you considered therapy????? /sb
  • Would I be considered a little more sane if I told you that I hated her hair? :) -further

  • Hi Hillary! You may have a LOT of company. This entire year has been strange anyway. /sb
  • I meant to add, sb, that I am so glad I missed Fantasia. Based on your recap, it surely would have burst my eardrums! BTW, who did Fantasia beat in the finals? / Hillary
  • Oh, she's simply horrible and could make your ears bleed. I believe she beat Diana DeGarmo who is a fine singer but not the caliber of Jennifer Hudson or LaToya London who Simon and Nigel took care of earlier. DeGarmo was easier for Fantasia to beat, IMO. /sb

Don't forget the hideous dancing! The diaper comment was accurate! I didn't see her AI season either and boy am I glad. Did she win? Top 4? HOW???

Anyway, I'm thrilled David C. goes to the finals. He's been a fave of mine since almost the beginning. I admit, the first week or so, I wasn't crazy about him. I have to go pinpoint which performance got me.
Thanks for all the recaps and links!!!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Sue, that was season 3 and TPTB designated her the ''chosen one'' and with the usual tactics got rid of all of her competition such as Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), LaToya London, and Diana DeGarmo. These ladies were known as The Divas. So, excuse me while I laugh at the look on Simon's face. She was the winner that year due to Nigel and Simon who was on a mission to crown her the winner. . She always appears to have a 'load' in her pants. ALWAYS! Now we have two more chosen ones. (You're welcome regarding the recaps and Linda's links.) /sb

WOW! Wasn't that a shocker! LOL!

The Group Number was much better tonight. Syesha is the clear performer with DC a close second. She was doing a jazz square right with the music (and singing at the same time-amazing!) while the two guys just kind moved back and forth at the beginning of the number. Did you notice how they even had the two Davids right out in front in one bit of staging and Syesha was in the middle but in back of them? Was that to say, here are your Final 2? Also, did anyone notice that the song they sang, "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now", is the same one that Clay and Ruben sang on their final night? Is AI recycling now?

The back home segments were nice to see and very emotional for the contestants. That Mayor of David A.'s was a character, though. The Ford Commercial was kind of nice as showing their dreams of the future. The whole show was pretty good, long, but good EXCEPT for Fantasia's performance. I didn't care for her the season she won, but she did have her few good moments. Tonight she was just awful! I hope she did much better in "The Color Purple". Was she trying to advertise the show by her hair? No, then they would have to change the title to "The Color BRIGHT RED"! LOL! Simon's face was priceless when he saw her performance. (See pictures below.)

I think the better performance was Syesha in her singout tonight. She is a classier act and I'm sure will do well on Broadway or wherever. Good Luck to her!

Next week: The winner of AI7 will be David! : )

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • of course it will be David but which one???
  • Look at that sail right over your head Lalola!!
  • Of course the opening number was meant to showcase the ''boys''. I love how Syesha just continued to strut her stuff. That girl knows she MUST get herself noticed. Fantasia.........what more is there to say other than I hope she makes every bone in Simon's body throb after his pimping of her in season 3. SHE was HIS pick and Nigel's as well. Nice ot see that she still has a 'load' in her pants. Everything was so predictable, wasn't it??? /sb
  • It sure was predicable from the moment they all came on stage. Actually back to the night before with the judges treatment of Syesha as opposed to the boys. Simon finally got something thrown back in his face. He is constantly reminding everyone how they got it wrong with Taylor Hicks. Now, he can see that he and Nigel aren't perfect either! No way! That picture is priceless! ~ eom. Linda
  • You said it! /sb

  • I'm enjoying Simon's look. I'm thrilled!!! Hope Nigel has the same look. They manipulated her to the WIN. /sb
  • I would have liked to see Nigel's look backstage for a double picture! Obviously, he hadn't seen her performance during rehearsal. I wonder if he would have asked her to change it. Probably not because Nigel knows what works the audience, which this certainly did. That's his main concern. I wonder if Simon will ever want her back on future shows, LOL! ~ eom. Linda
  • Me, too. Do you think Nigel required Oxygen?? (LOL) /sb
  • Simon is probably thinking, ''I can't believe I wore a shirt for this!'' ...valleygirl
  • AND, a sexy shirt at that?? I also noticed him glance at Paula in disbelief as she was shaking her booty, probably at the same time as poor further. /sb

Last night's show was a bit of alright.  My favourite performance was DC's 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'.

I had the first half of tonight's show muted.  I enjoyed the 'Going Home' videos.

Tonight's outcome was predictable.  I'm pulling for David Cook.

Thanks for the great recaps, songbird.  I just can't seem to get excited about the show anymore.

  • You're quite welcome valleygirl. I hope you had Fantasia (SCREECHING BIRD) muted. Looking away from your TV would have also helped. I felt that the GOING HOME videos finally showed us the ''humaness'' of these contestants. Poor DA had to be assured that it was all right to cry. How sad is that? The outcome was as expected. /sb

No great surprise but Syesha will do well. I'm still concerned that this could go to David A. - it just CAN'T!!

Other than seeing their hometown greetings this show was filler.

I didn't watch the Fantasia season and BOY am I glad. Her posture is sooooo poor and she walked around like she was wearing a loaded diaper. Simon had one of his famous reactions and I half wish the judges would comment when past contestants come back. I would love to know what words went with Simon's look.

I answered your Nigel question but I'll put it here, too: Interestingly I thought the very same thing. Maybe because he cares more about SYTYCD. He's forever shouting it's praises whenever he can that it gets larger audiences than Idol. He may be EP for both but having his face out there for SYTYCD goes to his head. It's been voted the best of these type shows. You'd think he'd work just as hard at both but apparently not.

  • Can you believe that Fantasia was the 'chosen one' in season 3 and Nigel and Simon got rid of some wonderful talent so this screeching bird with a load in her pants could win??? Jennifer Hudson, LaToya London, and Fantasia were known as the Three Divas. The other divas were trashed by Simon in particular. He was especially nasty to them. I hope no one lets him forget his part in her winning as well as Nigel's. She doesn't even sing..........she shrieks!!! Makes Mariah Carey sound good, doesn't she??? Thanks for the reply to my question. If that's the case, Nigel should be replaced and tend to his baby, SYTYCD. /sb
  • If memory serves Fantasia went up against Ms. Hudson for Dreamgirls - glad to know the casting peeps made the right call.eom/WE
  • Sorry, W.E., but Simon and Nigel had already sabatoged Jennifer Hudson and she was gone. It was Diana DeGarmo, a decent singer, but someone who Fantasia could beat considering fan bases. /sb
  • Oh, I read your comment wrong. YES................Jennifer beat her out for the role in Dreamgirls. That was such a good feeling for many of us. Btw, Simon refused to speak about it for a long time. POOR BABY. /sb
