Topic: Dancing With The Stars - the winner revealed

Additional Comments:

The Superbowl Champ, the model and the boy bander. They will repeat a dance and the rest is in the hands of the judges combined scores for tonight and last night equals 50% and the viewers 50%.

We see a where's Waldo type skit of Cloris. We'll see a few of these in the first hour. Then there are clips week to week as we see the contestants dance FULL dances. We saw 106 dances from week one until tonight.

Alicia Keys: another beauty and very cool dancers.

Jeffrey & Edyta: Quick Step - much better - is he taking lessons (heh).
Ted & Ina: Fox Trot - a cutie - glad he was here.
Kim & Mark: Mambo - oy not even as good as the 1st time.

MISTY ON HER FEET - yes!! Tom asks how's the tendon mendin'? I really think if she's up to it we'll see her next Fall.

Rocci & Karina: Mambo - I find him a very sexy non-dancer.

Toni & Alec are interviewed. She can't dance due to minor surgery but will dance and sing on the tour.

Cloris & Corky: Tango - so glad they chose this and not one of the antic filled abominations. Samantha mentions her Emmys, Oscar and Golden Globe and asks how this compares. Cloris says to pregnancy and Tom says well you certainly delivered and got groaning boos (LOL)!!
Susan & Tony: Paso Doble - she's still awkward but tries so hard.
Maurice & Cheryl: Salsa - their best dance. Love him, too.

Jeffrey's Roast: He can't dance and is the modern day (blue) Don Rickles but really is a genuine guy. He jokes that out of 12 (usually) he was voted off 13th and before an 82 year old. Says he was injured before it was cool. Cloris' numbers should have been 9-1-1 - she danced like Weekend At Bernie's The Musical. Says Brooke gave birth to her 15th child today and Lance is the father. The baby came out of the womb AND the closet the same day. Says Warren practiced 3 months and 8 hours a day and is still out of shape. Ends by saying you're all winners!

Cody & Julianne: Jitterbug - wonderful fun. Was that Vanessa Hudgens in the audience? Man they are going for the Disney set!

Hour two (plus 10) begins with the theme from Star Wars as they reveal our final three couples.

Warren & Kym: HUSTLE
he says without Kim there is no Warren - I'm dead without her. Before he said it (later) I'm thinking I still get to see him on Inside The NFL. Love him but I'm thinking he'll take 3rd.
Len: not the judges champ but you are the public's champ. 9
Bruno
: craftiest hustler of them all. 9
Carrie
: special - you make us all want to dance. 9
TOTAL
: 80 of 90

Lance & Lacey: JITTERBUG
Lance says she's a pain in my butt but a friend for life. Powerful energy and the shoe stayed on. Love when girls lift the boys.
Bruno: no doubt you are a great showman. Panache and flair. 10
Carrie
: great both times but struggled on the lift. So deserve to be here. 9
Len
: Sparked and grown week to week. 9
TOTAL
: 81 of 90

Tom says they are nothing but shameless as he asks us to vote DWTS for the People's Choice Award.

Brooke & Derek: VIENNESE WALTZ
He says she is born to dance and she says she wants to raise the trophy together. Lovely, flowing and fancy. The daughter kiss?!? Sob!
Carrie: you are a star from day one. Proved what you can do with your soul and deserve the trophy. 10
Len
: dance of the season. 10
Bruno
: Bellissima. Jewel in the crown of this grand finale. 10
TOTAL
: 88 of 90

It sure seems like they danced in the order they will go out.

We see the reigning champ Kristi Yamagucci.

Miley Cyrus: FLY ON THE WALL. She's as good a performer as her dad is a dancer. Maybe I'd feel differently if I were a teen.

Third Place: Lance and Lacey. This is surprising. I like them all and no matter whose name was said I would be disappointed BUT I didn't think it would be Lance.

Tom talks to all the contestants and it's so sad to see Lance among them.

Second Place: (without hoopla) Warren and Kym

...and the winner(s) is/are:

BROOKE and DEREK!!

Warren says he's glad he didn't do disrespect to the football guys. As the winners are announced Julianne, Mark and Corky (Derek's family) rush to them as Mark and Corky lift Brooke and Derek on their shoulders.

Until next time............

W.E.

Thanks for all the recaps. They really helped when I had a long day at work and fell asleep watching the show!

My co-worker Ron and I picked Brooke to win and Warren in Second place from the beginning!

I knew Cloris would be back for the finale and doing comedy. She is so much the better actress than a dancer, as is Susan Lucci! However, they get Kudos for trying!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

  • Up until the last few weeks I figured it would be Brooke to win and Warren second. Then Lance came alive and showed such fun, confidence and excitement. When they didn't do lifts for the freestyle I guess that might have been their downfall. I'm happy for all and 3rd ain't so bad out of 13. eom/WE

I also liked all the contestants and thought Warren should have taken 3rd, but I'm OK with it.  I probably would have been disappointed if Warren had won though.

Funny, I FFed through Alicia Keys but listened to Miley.  Having a teenage girl, I've seen almost ALL the Hannah Montana shows so I guess I'm used to her and think she's really growing into her talent nicely.  The girl JUST turned 16 (like yesterday) so I think her music is very age appropriate.  I think Daddy Billy is doing a pretty good job so far of keeping her normal.  I noticed  they flashed to her boyfriend and mom in the audience.   I kinda thought it would have been funny to have shown her Cody connection (he played her "movie star" boyfriend on the show) but she is trying to break away from her "Hanna Montana" image.

Ah well, now I'll have other things to do on Monday and Tuesday for awhile.

Thanks for the recaps!  Although I might not always agree, it's nice to hear the opinion of a professional.

  • I agree - Warren winning would not have been right. I did see Miley's 20 year old BF in the audience - very cute! I'm glad to hear Billy is trying for normalcy with Miley. I'm with you - what will I do with my Monday/Tuesday nights? (lol). Love reading your take on things, too. I knew nothing about Miley. eom/WE

Thanks for all the recaps WE.

It seems I am always the odd man out with my opinions, but I really liked Warren a lot (and Dial Idol actually had him winning by quite a lot, although that doesn't include internet votes or the judges votes, of course).  I think he might not have seemed as poised because of his weight and shear breadth of him.  I thought, especially for his size and non-experience, that he was great!

I actually liked all three and last week thought that Lance and Lacey might just pull out an upset - but then came the finale and I did not like their free style dance at all, although I really wanted to!  And then the last dance for Lance and Lacey seemed really strained and I agree with Carrie Ann when she said it looked like he was struggling and i thought he actually did not seem strong enough to pick Lacey up.  The last lift where she went over his head seemed down right dangerous to me!!

Also, I really liked Brooke and did think she was the best dancer - I was blown away by their free style - haven't liked one as much since Drew and Cheryl.

On the whole, I thought the dancers were placed perfectly - actually, almost all season long - maybe one or two went a week or so before they should have but pretty well placed.  One disappointment for me is I really though Susan Lucci would be a much stronger, more sure dancer than she was!

    Can't wait until next season.

  • I've said all along how much I LOVE Warren - such a cutie. That said all three entertained and Brooke really did nail the technique. Too many have come to the end and the final dance is their downfall. Lacey should have done better by Lance. Actually I saw two lifts that looked like Lance was struggling. Hmmm, maybe that's why they didn't include any in the freestyle. Ah yes Drew and Cheryl's freestyle was fabulous. I think Susan surprised a lot of us. Having been on Broadway and in so many Vegas,AC acts I expected her to be more accomplished, too. eom/WE

Thanks so much for all the recaps. This was the first season I watched DWTS.

My faves from day 1 were Lance and Lacey and I was greatly disappointed when they came in 3rd.  I know all the dance experts picked Brooke, but I just don't like her nor did I see anything that difficult about her dance last night but she got all 10's - as expected.

The show was way too long. Alicia looked great, but I didn't like that song. Miley was irritating at best.

  • I enjoyed the show but prefer many other season enders of this show. Not sure any of us can figure out what happened to Lance but I was very surprised AND I'm a big Warren fan. it happens. Hope you tune in again and join in on the fun - Spring will be season 8. eom/WE
  • Like you Sue, from the first dance w/ Lance and Lacey I was hooked... I guess I should have voted. They were the best IMO ... Brooke definitely didn't deserve 10's that last dance - it was a snore - seemed like they definitely went the SAFE route! LOL - kris

Once again, W.E., you  got us through another season with great recaps, comments and updates.   Thank you, as I often check in to get scores and outcomes.    This is only my second year of watching and must do a little bragging as, after two episodes, I picked the winners for the those two years, ha,ha.     To a degree, like you, I felt this seasons wasn't the best as they promoted.  Yet I must say it was the most inclusive with old, young, little and big dancers.  I guess I never did get into Warren's endearing personality and felt his dancing was over rated as it was mostly mechanical.   I, too, was pulling for Lance and Lacey to come in second, yet those Warren  audiance votes  prevented that.   Thanks much for all of your helpful expertise. :)   Happy Thanksgiving and remember '' gobble, gobble, gobble, if you eat too much turkey, you will wobble, wobble, wobble. :)

  • Ah shucks thanks Suds!! Cool that you got the winners! They did have a diverse cast but not sure if that worked out for them - that will come later. I loved Warren the whole way and personality is a plus BUT I really thought he was a third place dancer. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. eom/WE

WE, Here's a great big thank you for keeping us DWTS viewers well-informed.
Question about Derek and Julianne...I read somewhere that these two siblings lived for some time with Mark and his parents, in order to train for ballroom dancing. What do you know about this?

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • The little I know: I believe Julianne and Derek's parents divorced. Sometime after that, for peace of mind, they went to live in London. Then they hooked up as students of Corky's and became best friends with Mark. It appears Corky is the man responsible for all three marvelous dancers. Derek and Julianne are two of five children BUT there are 14 with steps from both parents remarriages.eom/WE
  • 14! Wow, that's quite an extended family. Bonnie
  • yes Bonnie, true... there was a story in People last year about this. you may be able to track it down on line or google... - Kris

I'll just join the others here who were disappointed that Lance came in third.  I thought he improved so much through the the weeks of the show he should have at least been second. He had a slow start, but after Lacey finally discovered that it was Lance who was the star, she did give him the showcase he deserved

I think Warren was more entertainer than dancer, and should have been third.  Brooke was spectacular and deserved the trophy, and I was happy for Derek.

Two long hours was way too much, but I will miss the show.  Until next year.........

Many thanks to WE and Linda for your recaps.

  • Although Lacey wizened up a bit she still over danced right to the end. It has to be hard adapting from contestant to taking the back seat but a lot of folks will blame her for his loss. Even the judges are now saying entertainment is as important as technique. I'm happy at the outcome but sad for Lance. eom/WE

Long Session 7 is finally over!!! (lol) I enjoyed the two hours for the most part since I had forgotten about some of the contestants. Kim should have been the 1st to be voted off. Poor girl was even worse than before!!!! As for Miley Cyrus, the girl can't sing but she sure flings her hair around 'real good'!!!!

I'm glad Brooke won but thought Lance would take the 2nd spot. I wonder if that Hip Hop worked against them, Lacey's remarks, and possibly a split in the votes between Warren and Lance. Obviously, the judges wanted Brooke to win. I felt a bit bad for Lance in 3rd place.

Thank you for all the great recaps and insights during the season. Just think....... 4 more months and you'll be doing it again!!!!!

    (PS: thanks for the recipe)

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • I enjoyed seeing everyone, too. As I said watching the credits I'd forgotten many of them (heh). Why was Kim here? Who knows. Miley has her place but not my cuppa. Many will wonder if Lacey's antics and being a rebel went against her and Lance. Love that Warren took 2nd but really didn't think he would. Bitt said, as proven by past seasons, the sports peeps have fanbase. Four more months ...OY when I'm mid-musical. Hope you make the gooey cake. I never thought I liked pumpkin until I made that - it is rich and scrumptious. Enjoy. eom/WE
  • Can't wait to taste that pumpkin gooey cake!!!!! /sb
  • LOL!!!!!! I thought I was just getting OLD!!!!! Because I, too, thought Miley couldn't sing, at all - nor dance very well, really!
  • In a way it would have been nice for Lance to come in 2nd, because I remember one show where he said he was always put in the back row when he was N'Sync because his dancing was never as good as the other guys :( It would have been nice for him to tie Joey! But I truly believe the hip hop was a big mistake. People want to see the big lifts, etc for the free dance (well me at least).
  • Exactly mvb. Her choice of no lift was not smart. I'm a boy band fan. Not all of them but definitely N'Synch. Lance was always in the back to start because JT and JC were the stars - or that's what I told myself. I bet he gets some nifty offers from this. eom/WE

I would love to see them do a rematch of champions - I was really happy to see the Mario Lopez was given first place ... that is the best dance routinue in the history of the show .. I think it was his paso doble ... terrific!  He was definitely robbed.

I noticed that Len and the judges are very careful now .. to distinguish between who danced 'the best' and who were the entertainers .. I think Len must feel responsible for Mario coming in 2nd .. because he said in his heart he would like Emmet to win but he head said that Mario was the best ... and guess what, the audience voted Emmet in ... Mario was consistently the best dancer .. so I am happy that they are much more careful now about what they say

Brooke was definitely the star of the show .... but it would be great to see Mario, Christine Yamageuchi, Brooke, Elvio etc competing ... or at least performing... I would certainly watch it!

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Battle of the DWTS champions? That would be fabulous and I bet they're working on schedules. That would be the downfall. If they couldn't get enough of them. eom/WE
  • I missed some of the show. Mario Lopez was voted the best dancer? Fill me in. Thanks!
  • I just think that the football guys have a HUGE fan base, and the guys they have had on the show are just so personable and entertaining and big ole' teddy bears! And they still say vote for your favourite - who is still not necessarily the best technical dancer - maybe just the one who makes you smile, or cry, or laugh! eom
  • RE MARIO LOPEZ - at one point in the last season, they showed the dances which were the most outstanding in the previous years of competition. Mario and Karina's Paso Doble was rated #1 ... he was definitely robbed of the title ... he was clearly the best for most of the season .. so he finally had his day in the son, thanks to the judges!!! JMHO...eom

I enjoyed the show but, again, it could have been shorter. They didn't need all the guests. Just do the dancing, let the eliminated contestants get one more chance to shine and give us the results. With the anticipation of the Freestyle, the performance show seems to go much better than the Results show. Especially where the outcome seemed so predictable although it still could have changed. You never know with fanbases. It did change in some ways. I thought Lance would have been second but after last night's performance, I wasn't so sure. It turned out that hurt him so he came in third and it was back to what a lot of us were thinking some weeks ago...that it would be a Brooke/Warren final two.

The guests were fine but I didn't pay as much attention to them. We are going out of town for the holiday and my mind was on that. Did enjoy seeing Cloris as I had thought she was still ill from her pneumonia. All the other contestants were nice to see as their dances seemed improved probably because they didn't have the pressure. Kim was an exception.

I liked some of Jeffrey Ross's roast and some I didn't care for. It was different but just didn't seem right for this type of show. He really kept it clean, that's for sure. This is a family show.

I was happy to see Misty up and around and off her crutches. I hope they take her back again in a year and let her repeat as I think she will do quite well. I think she would have been giving Brooke a run for the title had it not been for her injury.

Warren & Kym-HUSTLE-“Funkytown”—More polished than the last time.

Lance & Lacey-JITTERBUG-“Jim Dandy”—Better than the last time. He didn’t lose his shoe or his focus because of it.

Brooke & Derek-VIENNESE WALTZ-“Daughters”—Beautiful! Just as wonderful as the last time, if not more. Such lovely arm work. She kissed two of her daughters this time. Last time only one was there. That is such a sweet ending!

I had thought that the third place person was told at the beginning of the show or at least in the first hour based on the viewer's voting. After that, the final two do one last dance that the judges score and the winner is determined from that. I can't remember how last season was done but I seem to recall that's how it was done when Marie Osmond was on the show and I thought the previous years to that. Even back to Mario and Emmitt, I only remember the two of them dancing, not Joey Lawrence on Results night. Did they change this or am I recalling this all wrong?

It was a nice season, not the best, but I'm glad to have the time to relax and not worry about it for awhile. You did a great job with the recaps, W.E. as busy as you were. Thanks.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • In the past the eliminated contestants all got about 30 seconds. Why an hour? It always appeared Brooke would win but just WHO would be second was hard to guess. Cloris said the docs weren't sure if it was pneumonia or Bronchitis and she's much better. Kim definitely was the exception (lol). That's Ross' forte so I'm not surprised but nope it doesn't belong. Also in the past the 3rd place person knew in the first hour. They made changes they didn't need to. Thanks, as always, for your assistance - it's been fun. eom/WE
  • I just want to see the dancing competition and not much else. That's why I tivo it and watch later. As far as the Roast, I thought it bombed. Bonnie
  • I have a theory. Maybe Warren was the winner, until the final dance and that is why they had to keep them all on. When I checked Dial Idol Warren was winning - by a LOT. Maybe there is something to that?? Do you think that could be possible?

Predictable winners and they deserved it.

One thing I never understood about Brooke--the cute guy in the audience (who I just fell for because he teared up when she danced) is her fiance and I assume the father of her baby boy but are the girls his?  They look SO much like Brooke and him.  Nosy minds want to know this trivial stuff.

Clorky danced well.  Samantha's gold dress was lovely.  Kim K. should have gone before the hunk Ted.

If anyone sat through the commercials---the risky business Tom Cruise in his underwear four guys---Kobe Bryant, A-Rod, Michael Phelps and ? (the guy in the helmet-Lance Armstrong?)

And Four Christmases looks like a hoot!

  • Brooke was married to a doctor and the older girls are his. The man in the audience is her fiance actor David Charvet with whom she has 2 children - a two year old daughter and a son 8 months old. That makes 4 children. I really don't think that was Lance Armstrong - if it was I'd be very surprised. Then again I couldn't tell who it was. eom/WE
  • Four children....I must have missed that part, lol! I don't think that guy was Lance either, he rode in on a skateboard so could be a pro boarder. Thanks for the recaps WWWEEEE and Happy T-Day! Eve
