Songs That Shaped / Inspired Rock n' Roll Results Show

Let's get right to it - Ryan says they received 51 million votes!! Okayyyy, whatever he says!!

Group Number - ''Reeling In The Years'' - Catchy song but the sound system seems to be odd. The band is overpowering the singers. Since the song is easy they're actually able to sing it.

HIGHLIGHTS & CLIPS of last evening with comments by the judges

ELIMINATIONS BEGIN:

David A - safe - He says that his goal was to connect to the songs and have fun which he accomplished.

VIDEO - Our ''Fab Four'' went to Las Vegas to see Cirque du Soleil's Beatles Tribute which looks AMAZING.

David C - safe - He says that his head was in the wrong place last evening but he's back on track now.

Syesha M & Jason C - One will be leaving

FORD VIDEO - Johnny Cash's ''Ring Of Fire'' - Our Capp would have loved this! .

IDOL TAKES CALLS - mindless filler

Maroon 5 sings ''If I Never See Your Face Again - I'm expecting Blake Lewis to make a surprise appearance!!

Bo Bice sings ''Witness'' - I suspect the rocker fans are thrilled with his performance. He tells the contestants to PRACTICE!

Syesha M - safe - She says she was emotional last evening because of the meaning of her second song.

Jason C is ELIMINATED -- He says that he's been overwhelmed. Jason is smiling and seems happy.

We hear Ruben's ''Celebrate Me Home'' as a video of Jason plays.

Jason reprises '' I Shot The Sheriff'' - No comment from me!

Best wishes to Jason and whatever his next endeavor is.

It was no surprise to see Jason leave.  He started out so well then dumbed down like he was stoned all the time.  He appears to enjoy being a bit of a clown so we'll see where that takes him.

I sure hope David Cook wins it all - its time for a rocker to be the American Idol instead of the same old ballad singers.  I like Syesha but i dont expect her to win.  I will be most dissappointed if Mr.Peepers wins which i expect will happen.

Loved Maroon 5.  Hated Bo Bice.

  • It all turned out as we expected last night. I hope Jason finds his niche which may or may NOT be music. BO isn't for me either, but he does sing nice ballads at times (not boring). I never heard of Maroon 5 until last year when Blake Lewis used their music. Sometimes, I thought he sounded better than they did! (LOL) /sb
  • Mr. Peepers! SNORF!! auntgrace

Jason seemed relieved and that's nice to see.  He was clearly not handling things well as it got tougher.

One thing that irks me is Simon asking David Cook where his head is at.  David C has to be under pressure with a very ill brother that he is away from.

    Just my two cents.

  • I'm hoping that Simon had a ''mental lapse''. I'd hate to think that he said that knowing the precarious situation of DC's brother. As for Jason, he's probably ''celebrating'' , don't you think? /sb

As it should be.  Jason was clearly very happy with the decision, which explains a lot.

  • He could win an award as the happiest person to be voted off. Not everyone belongs in music. We'll have to see what he does next (or doesn't)!!!! /sb
  • I always saw him as more of a coffee house artist ... laid back, singing his own unique style, at a pace that seems better suited to him. Kudos to him for trying on this dream, though ... I think it was a big leap for him, and one where he has learned a lot about himself and what he wants and what he doesn't want. ...valleygirl
  • I tend to agree and eagerly await his post AI interview. /sb
  • Yes, coffee house or one of those restaurants that have live entertainment. He is a nice looking young man, dreads and all. Eve

If there ever was a contestant ready to go home it was Jason and he was given his wish tonight.

The Group Number was okay but I guess it was finally decided that this group of contestants can't handle anymore than just walking back and forth. Was that some lousy choreography or what? Maybe for other groups but for this group, it worked well.

The group looked like they had a good time in Vegas at the Cirque du Soleil's Beatles Tribute. I liked the Ford commercial this week but my son asked me, "Shouldn't the car have been a Taurus?" (The commercial featured the contestants bull(taurus)fighting a Mustang.)

Maroon 5 was okay; Bo Bice was great--nice to hear about second baby on the way; hated the phone call fillers. This was a suggestion from a poster on the recap page I put the link too--"If I had to choose between getting rid of the questions or the arm waving, I'd choose the arm waving." I guess I would go along with that too, only IF it came down to that. I'm hoping that both go!

The eliminations were so obvious. Why bother putting poor Syesha in that spot again. Just call her out separately and say she is safe and that's it. Jason wanted to go anyway. When it came time for Jason to sing, my son said (as if Jason is talking), "What should I sing...the song they hated or the song they hated less?". Yeah, big decision! LOL! I figured he would go with the Bob Marley song since he loves Bob Marley. One thing, though, Jason had a good time with his Bob Marley singout.

    Good recap, songbird!

  • Jason was thrilled to leave. I suspect that he has decided that he's not cut out for show biz. I'm sorry I omitted his line about his being told that he SHOT MR TAMBOURINE MAN!!! (LOL). The guy takes nothing seriously!!! The group numbers aren't choreographed , IMO. That tour should be ''interesting''. Loved the LV bit and I thought of Capp during the Ford commercial. I like BO but not his rocker music. It's good to see him looking healthy again. I hope he has great success and good health. Finally, that ''Marley singout'' was a blast!!!! /sb

From a poster in the comments section--"If I had to choose between getting rid of the questions or the arm waving, I'd choose the arm waving." Gee, do we have to choose? I hope it never comes down to that. Because I vote both.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • They both annoy me but that arm waving annoys me more because the camera people have to try to work around it. /sb

    Thanks again for the recap.

Can't say I'm surprised. Disappointed a little, but he clearly was ready to go so that made it easier. No tears and that helped too.
    I LOVE Maroon 5.
I loved Bo's song. Didn't watch the show when he was on so I'm pretty unfamiliar with him.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • We put him out of his misery and he seemed quite pleased to me. Former contestant Blake Lewis loved singing Maroon 5 with his beat box. When Bo was on the show, it was a different AI. Glad you enjoyed the musical guests. /sb
