I just wanted to say that I think the Canadians did a terrific job with the Olympics despite the tragic beginning and the fact that Mother Nature decided not to cooperate for most of the outdoor events. There didn't seem to be any major problems with security and the spectators were cheering for all of the athletes.

I cried for Joannie Rochette as she skated following the death of her mother and cheered for the Ice Dance pair, who were beautiful.

While I rooted for Team USA in the hockey game yesterday, I was happy for all of the Canadians who were rooting for Team Canada. It was a great game.

Congrats Canada!!!!

I just didn't have time to watch the opening and closing ceremonies but I was able to catch some of the action here and there. From what I saw, the level of competition was extremely high.  In fact, I questioned at times whether some of the events were too dangerous.  All in all, though, Canada seemed to do a great job in hosting and their athletes did a tremendous job.

  • I so agreee that some of the sports seemed extremely dangerous, but I guess that's part of the excitement for the young men and women who compete. I found myself closing my eyes at times and praying that no one would be seriously hurt.................AuntHen

Yes Canada (OH Canada) be very proud. I really enjoyed the opening ceremony and saw much more than I intended once I knew my Poopaloop would be there. I tried to see all the events I knew she would attend and found a few I'd never seen before and loved. In particular the ski cross. Downhill with jumps and THE BEAST to end it, a 90 foot drop.

North America (the US and our fab neighbors) did better in the winter Olympics than ever before!

The closing ceremony was just as great as the opening. Loved how they poked fun at that fourth arm not coming up and doing it for the ending. Great comedic moment.

I really was impressed and loved the snow boarders. All in winter white with red on one side and white on the other of their snowboards. HOW did they do all those formations, symbols, words and the maple leaf? Great creation and it must have taken forever to perfect that.

Loved Neil Young, William Shatner and Michael J. Fox but it was Catherine O'Hara that slayed me. Her entrance with the curling brushes/brushers and the clicks of pictures. Even if you don't speak english we know who you are if you pee your name in the snow. The I'm sorry of the always respectful Canadians!!

Great two weeks!! Thank you Canada.

  • I also loved the opening and closing. I watched events that I would never have watched before (cross country, biathlon) and loved that Team USA won more medals than ever. It's unbelievable how those kids can do some of the stuff they do on those boards and skis, but so exciting to watch. My favorite is figure skating and I wasn't disappointed ~ all four events were wonderful to watch. I was disappointed in Plushchenko's attitude at getting silver, but Evan so deserved that gold. I felt bad for Jeremy Abbott having a bad Olympics and for Rachel Flatt with the downgrades on her jumps in the long program. They are both local kids and we were all rooting extra hard for them. And how awesome is Apolo Ohno? I could go on, but suffice it to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the 2010 Olympics and was sorry to see them end. I hope your Poopaloop had a wonderful time and has wonderful stories to share with you..................AuntHen
  • They are truly amazing athletes - all of them. Pleshenko was just a sore loser baby!! Figure skating is my favorite too and I saw about 90% - missed a few here and there. Rachel doesn't have the experience and sophistication but one must add the word YET! They were all where she is now but man the girl has great promise and by 2014 - watch out! Apolo is the cutest and sweetest - so happy for his success. It's rumored that Evan Lycasek(sp) will be on Dancing With The Stars. When they announced last night that he went home then returned for the closing I thought YES!! He went home because he's already practicing OR to do promos as the competitors will be announced tonight. I hope he's on - would love to see him dance and win just like Apolo! eom/WE
  • You're right about Rachel. She is so talented and just needs the maturity to become a medal contender. Wait till 2014! She is so smart too and such a sweetheart. Everyone here in Colorado Springs loves her. And Apolo, what can I say? We all loved him when he stayed at the Olympic Training Center too. I hope Evan does well on DWTS, he seems to really work hard for whatever he persues and should be fun to watch. I'm excited.................AuntHen
