Some very interesting comments from a fellow prisoner and Wesley Clark.  Is this why McCain has sqaushed ever effort to produce his POW and service records?

Right on Michael!!! I've been thinking about that too.

McCain with his extra poor memory thinks he has the right to make fun of people with Alzheimer's? All he has to do is look at his wife whose brain damaged memory caused by her addiction to pain pills only a few years ago. Then she had a stroke which did further damage to her memory. Guess he didn't leave his damaged 2nd wife because she's mega rich like he left his damaged 1st wife. The creep should turn a mirror on himself if he can remember.

I had read that he was tortured for two years, not five.  And then he was given special treatment, but you won’t hear it from him, only from those who were imprisoned with him.  Of course, any ex POW should be revered for what they went through, but for God’s sake, quit using it to get out of jail free for every lie you tell or mistake you make!  Being an ex POW does not equal honesty!

Last night on Jay Leno, he did it AGAIN.  He used the POW card for not knowing how many houses he had.  Even Leno wondered why he gave that answer when it was just supposed to be amusing. Then Leno asked him why all the negative attacks after he said he was going to run an honest and clean campaign.  He had the nerve to say the ads were just meant to be amusing.  If he really thinks any clear thinking person believes that, then some of his mental power is missing.

  • McCain has a very hard time speaking off the cuff. He never seems to anticipate the questions and just says the first stupid thing that pops into his head. I'm glad he made that appearance, maybe people will see what an incompetent azz he is. Bet his handlers will try to keep him on the short leash now. ~i&b
  • But his audience loved him, and when he said, ‘’for five and a half years, I didn’t have a home; I didn’t have a chair; I didn’t have a table; I didn’t have a bed,’’ the audience all cheered and clapped. But, then it was known ahead of time that he was going to be on Leno, so of course, all his followers were in the audience. Although, this morning on Morning Joe, they played the clip several times and they were all saying it was a mistake for him to keep using that card, and his caretakers have to quit having him use it. I think they had also read the Maureen Dowd article. / Vivian
  • I heard that when they were torturing him the Vietnamese would only shove bamboo shoots under his fingernails and not his toenails. And when they poured acid on him they used hydrochloric acid, not sulfuric acid which is much worse. He really got off easy!
  • So Luther, do you think that because he was tortured it gives him permission to lie, and that no one has a right to question him? Because that’s what we’re talking about. / Vivian

People don't want to touch any of this with a 20 foot pole, Peace.  Funny.  Some things never get better.  We couldn't discuss it back then, and we still can't discuss it now.  God forbid anyone should suggest that what was done over there wasn't a fine and noble thing.

The real unsung heroes, IMO, were the boys who were drafted and served, like it or not, who did their service, or were killed and never got a chance to be an old codger.  The ones who are still suffering from PTSD because of what they saw or what they had to do - those guys are heroes too.

I am not making light of what he might have suffered for however long, or the amount of time he spent imprisoned (regardless of how well he might have been treated when they found out who he was, i.e. "The Crown Prince."  He was still locked up).  I'm just sick and tired of people defending his every action, his stupid mistakes, his lack of knowledge in areas the Present Occupant is also lacking, etc., because he was a POW.
