Subject: What are all of them doing at Club Fed? Except for Erica they are all petty thieves or some crime that is not white collar. I think Erica is the one in the wrong prison. Those women wouldn't put up with her for one minute./goldie

Subject: They told Erica about their crimes when they were all trying to get her to help them, remember she was all scared and then she found out they just wanted her to help.

Subject: No goldie, the women did not tell Erica about their crimes, when they asked for her help. They only told her what they needed and what they wanted her to help them attain; things like job training, education and help for their families. SqueezeMe, Erica did say around that time, that the prison wasn’t exactly the Club Fed kind she had envisioned but she also clarified that it was also not maximum security. Carmen commented that there were gangs in the prison, but I don’t think Erica has come into contact with any from these groups…. AS YET! So for the time being Carmen, in for armed robbery, does seem to be the prisoner that is ‘misplaced’ in that federal lock-up, albeit she is innocent. That seems to have been plot driven so that Carmen could take Erica hostage and on the run. The only other inmate, to my knowledge, whose crime has been stated is Fay, the blonde who did Erica’s make-up for the show and was one of the women who accosted Erica for help. Fay is in for mail fraud and it appears the other inmates’ crimes MAY be along this line. Still, as has been said here, Erica’s story is similar to that of Martha Stewart’s who also made friendships & received respect from her fellow inmates. I can see where MANY of the women in this prison would be friendly with Erica as she has literally been their ‘cash cow.’ The prisoners know who she is and they tapped into that but along the way friendships & respect developed. Especially as Erica has used her influence to bring about such changes as education with new computers, a library, has made it possible for at least one inmate’s family to travel a long distance to see her, and she has brought other ‘delights’ to this penitentiary, which many of the women appear to appreciate. These are tangible reasons why MANY would NOT turn on her – without her they are back to being treated as ‘useless’ individuals, and a Warden who dishes out solitary confinement to appease her ego. Now if Erica had not agreed to help them when they first asked, there is the possibly that one or two might have turned on her, although it became clear that the women were pretending to be bad, as they thought an aggressive approach to her (rich & famous, EK) was the best one.
