Additional Comments: Hello everybody. Just started watching this show a few weeks ago (actually since they canceled GL). It is quite interesting so far, but there are a few things I can not figure out and need help with. Annie telling people her daughter Emma shot Stuart, WHY? She herself believe it? Or, does she know, suspect Adam is the killer and she tries to protect him? I mean she is fixing to marry him and he is rich, correct? On another note, whatever the answer to this question is, Annie has to be the worst mother in the universe, how cruel to talk your 7 year old into lying. There are some other things that are confusing to me at the moment, but over time it might become clear and if not, can I come and bother you with more, probably st*pid, questions? Hello again and thanks in advance for taking time to answer.

okay I've tried 4 times to cut and paste the dialogue for this message but for whatever reason I cannot do it...so I'll just type part of it...

on a Friday episode Ryan said to Annie oh my God...you're not saying that...and then the episode ended.

Then on Monday the conversation takes up again and this is what was said:

Ryan - YOU WANT ME TO BELIEVE THAT OUR DAUGHTER IS THE ONE WHO KILLED STUART? THAT'S THE SECRET YOU'VE BEEN SITTING ON THIS ENTIRE TIME?

Annie - NOT SO LOUD. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S TAKEN YOU THIS LONG TO FIGURE IT OUT. I AM NOT THE ONE WHO IS IN DANGER OF THESE PEOPLE SNOOPING AROUND.

Ryan - YOU HAVE BEEN PROTECTING EMMA THIS ENTIRE TIME?

Annie - FOR WEEKS I'VE BEEN TERRIFIED THAT SHE WAS GOING TO SAY SOMETHING INCRIMINATING...NOT ABOUT ME, ABOUT HERSELF.

So there you have it. She did say Emma did it.

I don't think Annie has ever said out right that Emma shot Stuart she told Ryan to quit interrogating Emma, and letting all the other vultures pressing her to tell, Ryan is the one, as usual that assumed that she was telling him Emma did it.

I thought she said that Emma shot Stuart when they were dancing in the marathon. MM

She told Ryan Emma shot Stuart. When he told Adam and others what she said, she denied it but she did say it. eom/

Welcome to the board, and I'm glad you're enjoying All My Children!

About Annie: She has a history of mental illness, caused by a number of factors. In her childhood she was tormented by her psychotic brother Richie, who killed several people but always got away with it. Richie even murdered her best friend, with Annie as a witness, when they were just kids, and Annie blocked out the horrible memory for years afterwards. Richie also manipulated their parents into blaming Annie for various crimes that HE committed. So Annie had a nightmare childhood, and her adult life wasn't much better. Her first husband turned out to be a sicko pedophile, who became a potential threat to Emma. So Annie's early life was all about being betrayed and running away from bad people that tried to hurt her. She later married Ryan (Emma's bio dad), but that marriage fell apart because Ryan still loved his former wife, Greenlee. So once again, Annie felt betrayed. She had a psychotic break and killed Richie, who was threatening to tell Ryan about her various manipulations. After that, she pretty much lost it. She descended into madness, doing various wacko things. That's how and why Annie lost custody of Emma, the one person that she truly cares about. Yes....and despite her being an abusive mother, I believe that Annie really DOES love her daughter.

So what's she up to now? IMO, Annie wants to marry Adam because he can give her exactly what she wants: freedom, money, power, security and custody of Emma. Plus the added benefit of getting her revenge on Ryan. Annie knows that a drugged-up Adam killed Stuart---but she doesn't want the truth to come out, because Adam would be devastated. She may fear, too, that this awful revelation could put Adam in a strait-jacket, and then her meal ticket would be gone. Unfortunately Emma witnessed the shooting, so Annie has to silence Emma somehow. In fact, Annie is doing to her child exactly what Richie once did to her: telling her to KEEP QUIET and NOT TELL THE SECRET. So history repeats itself. If you understand Annie's past, you understand better why she's acting this way...

Poor Emma!

Hello & Welcome...we don't know who shot Stuart. Maybe Adam did..maybe Emma did...but that's unlikely...maybe Annie did...maybe someone else did....

So we keep watching. Adam has been Annie's ticket to freedom ever since that night. And he's been her meal ticket as well. She's made it clear up til now that she's not particularly in love with him but she really loves the posh life. She's been all over Scott at various times. Recently she seems a BIT more devoted to Adam.

With Annie, you never know. She's always got a scheme in progress, it seems.
