Additional Comments: Although I "never" watch the Today show...yesterday I happened to catch a segment where they had Adam West and the Batmobile from the TV series...and standing next to him was this absolutely gorgeous, slim, incredibly well-dressed woman with grey/white hair done in an up-do...HOW FABULOUS SHE IS I thought...who is she I thought as I looked at the tiny screen of the TV in my kitchen. This, to me, is how I want to look (ha..no chance of that) when I'm at that point in life (which is about a week away!)...I call women who look like this "Great Ladies" and she surely is one! And then I realized when they talked about her having been a Miss America...it's Lee Meriwether--on because she played Cat Woman.
I said "wait a minute...so when she plays Ruth they frump her up a bit? That's a wig? And somehow they dress her so she looks heavier?!?!" I had to double check that it's Lee Meriwether who's playing Ruth...because I could not believe that Ruth whom we just saw is played by Lee Meriwether who looks as I was seeing her yesterday...there's so little resemblance!
She is SLIM SLIM SLIM and her hair is clearly longer and is that beautiful white/grey look that some older women are blessed with..and she was dressed so fabulously...she was just GORGEOUS.
Ruth is a fine lookin' specimen of the older American woman...but my goodness, I'd have NEVER thought that they were frumpin' up Lee Meriwether..I thought that's how she looks all the time...but no way!! Such a surprise!

Message: She also has a new National commercial spot, for home alert/medical stuff, she looks Fab there too. When they 'drag' the poor thing out for Holiday's and Bad Things, she looks awfulwith that terrible red wig and they make her seem kind of dottering and not all there!! I get so mad. I love her(personal note here) I was actually named after her. really.

Message: I knew her real hair was white because I had seen her with it.I actually think the white hair looks better and doesn’t make her look any older, because of her very pretty face.

Message: I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Lee Merriweather at a theater in Buffalo when her husband was directing a play.(maybe five years ago) She was very tall, VERY slim, and very gorgeous. I had a long, animated conversation with her about AMC and asked her if she wanted more storyline. She said she would love it, but TPTB were not interested. She smiled and rolled her eyes....I reassured her that there were plenty of her fans who would love to see her featured in a juicey plot. She just smiled, and thanked me. What a real "lady."
It is a shame that TPTB (Corp) seem to have a pathetically, narrow minded view of 'older' performers & the characters they play. They seem to think that NO older characters can be interesting, attractive or viable. They all need to be background characters, at best, propping up newbies & insignificant characters that are far less developed or interesting.
