Topic: NuColby...I don't get it

I don't get why the oldColby was replaced by this one. Story related recast indeed. Phfft.

This NuColby doesn't look any older. She's not even as cute as the old one. I really got to like, even adore the old one. She was kind of perfect. Some recasts make sense, this one doesn't. Even though it's Nu Colby's first day, I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying that this recast is as bad as the Babe recast.

I do think she looks just a little older. I certainly DON'T agree with the comparison to NuBabe, not even at this early stage.

For those who criticized her for being too much like AC on the ''maturity'' factor, you have to consider that the storyline itself is that Frankie finds her to be a little juvenile. How jarring and unrealistic (and maybe hilarious) would it have been if this recast suddenly played Colby as a sophisticated, mature vamp?

I agree that this could have been someone who auditioned for the Babe recast. She does resemble Alexa Havins a little, though she's clearly younger looking than AH. I liked her on her first day. As a matter of fact, I thought she had a better first day than most recasts pull off. From what we've seen so far, I think she'll do fine.

I agree.  It makes no sense.  The nubie looks so much like Ambyr Childers that I didn't even realize she was new for a moment.  I'm willing to give the new actress a chance, but I liked AC's Colby a lot, and I don't understand fixing what wasn't broken.  Perhaps AC just has other ambitions right now.  She turned 21 in January, BTW, so she's legally old enough to do whatever scenes she is asked to do.  NuColby certainly doesn't look any older.

I disliked Ambyr at first.  Now I think she is one of the most adorable actresses on t.v. and her acting was improved...

I will miss her, and really wish she hadn't gotten the boot.

Yeah. I remember her *awkward* phase when she first came on and all the posts about how terrible she was. She really came a long way acting wise. She absorbed alot working with some of the best actors on daytime. She did good! /Cookie

I think NuColby looks older, about 19 or 20. Ambyr Childers still looked only 16 yrs. old, so I can see why they might have needed an "older" actress, but NuColby needs to drop her "teen" act which seems kind of forced.

I guess once they get Colby's SL rolling, she'll settle into whatever TPTB had in mind and she'll be more grownup. /Cookie

I thought I read that they were bringing in an older actress for the part (even though you can’t tell by looking at her), so I think what Grandma b@s said is right.  But I think the other one was adorable and I’ll miss her. I hope she gets a good gig some place else.

I hope to see her on some show sometime soon, too. I could definately see her in Primetime. /Cookie

From what I've seen she looks like she could have been better as a NuBabe. She may have tried and did not get it so they decided on NuColby.

I liked Colby even though she said "feeyyamlee"

Now, I don't know but maybe the ACTRESS was too young to play scenes that they want the CHARACTER to play.  NuColby is older so she is can do things younger Colby can't... maybe... (I should point out I haven't seen the show today, just guessing)

Yeah, I didn't think of that. Maybe they were being cautious after they had some rumored problems with the girl who played Lilly/Ava being so young IRL. /Cookie

I'm going to cut her some slack-it must be hard to understand a character right away. The only thing that puzzles me, as some have stated, is that she doesn't look older or more sophisticated than the other actress, who was doing a great job. She still looks too young for Frankie. Both girls certainly do look alike, don't they?

At first glance, they do look similiar. We'll see how she develops, but the oldColby was a popular actress and terrific , especially with Adam. /Cookie

I agree. The old Colby was very appealing and this recast is not nearly as pleasing and certainly not as cute looking.

I can live with the Babe recast (that was a no choice deal since the original wanted to leave) even though she takes some getting used to. But if Colby was a storyline reason I don't get it. This new girl doesn't, as you said, look older, and she doesn't seem to be a better actor,and isn't as good looking.  So what does she have to offer that the old Colby didn't?
